In addition to being an accomplished writer, Ms. Bensussen is considered to be an expert in fashion design and illustration. She has devised a single system for shipping a pattern from a completed garment without taking the garments apart. Ms. Bensussen is an author and illustrator of four books about making patterns from finished clothes, patterns to sew a complete wardrobe, making your own fashion accessories and shortcuts to a perfect sewing pattern. Sterling Publishers published her first book in 1984 and has written articles for Threads Magazine.

Ms. Bensussen completed coursework at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and is a member of the Lamb Foundation. She attributes her success to her love for fashion and her desire to help others. Ms. Bensussen became involved in her profession because she was interested in fashion design.
